This course is designed for occupational hygienists, occupational health professionals and managers who are considering setting up and/or managing a biological monitoring programme for chemical exposure in the workplace. It may also be helpful to employee health and safety representatives.It gives practical advice on setting up a programme, how to protect employees’ rights, what the law says, the role and use of biological monitoring guidance values and contains an Appendix about the technical aspects of biological monitoring. Instructional contact-time must be a minimum of 8 hours.

  1. Introduction: Overview of the importance of safe operations for dozer operators the potential hazards and risks associated with operating a dozer
  2. Pre-operational Inspection and Maintenance: The importance of conducting a pre-operational inspection of the dozer,  how to identify and report any maintenance issues or defects, proper maintenance procedures for the dozer
  3. Load Chart and Weight Limitations: Understanding the load chart and weight limitations of the dozer, how to determine the weight of a load and ensure it is within the limits of the dozer, the consequences of exceeding the weight limitations of the dozer
  4. Dozer Operation and Movement: The proper techniques for operating the dozer and moving it around the job site, how to safely and efficiently move soil, gravel, and other materials with the dozer, understanding the limitations of the dozer's reach and capacity
  5. Signals and Communication: The importance of clear and effective communication when operating a dozer, the standard hand signals used to communicate with other operators and ground personnel, how to properly use a radio or other communication device when operating the dozer
  6. Safety Procedures and Emergency Preparedness: Standard operating procedures for safe work practices when operating a dozer, how to develop and implement safety procedures, emergency preparedness and response planning for situations such as power failure, equipment failure, or accidents.
  7. OSHA Regulations and Compliance: Overview of OSHA regulations specific to dozer operations, how to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, such as OSHA's Excavations standard, training on OSHA regulations and compliance
  8. Site Assessment and Planning: How to properly assess a job site and identify any potential hazards, techniques for planning and organizing a job to ensure the safe operation of the dozer, the importance of monitoring weather conditions and adjusting operations accordingly.
  9. Accident Investigation and Reporting: Techniques for conducting accident investigations involving a dozer, how to report accidents and incidents involving a dozer, how to identify and correct accident causes specifically related to dozer operations
  10. Conclusion: Recap of the importance of safe operations for dozer operators, he role of the operator and employer in promoting safety when operating a dozer, the benefits of a safe and healthy work environment when operating a dozer.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
